MEDICAL FACULTY MARTIN SLOVAKIA
In 2002 the Labour government, to its credit, passed the British Overseas Territories Act. This restored full British citizenship (removed by Margaret Thatcher's government in 1981) to anyone resident in a British colony giving them the same rights that the rest of us enjoy in Great Britain and thus far in The European Union. We might say, however, that this was only done once the Hong Kong handover was out of the way in 1997.
Legislation recognizes those Overseas countries and Territories as part of the EU last frontier, and specifically those with special relationahip with the EU State Member.
Montserrat is listed in the annex 2 of the Title 4 of the EU Treaty as an OTC ( Overseas Territory and Country), with special relationship and association with the United Kingdom of The Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a full member of the EU.
